Baubles & Beauté: Trunk Show at Benefit Cosmetics

It seems like ages ago now, but we started the month of May with our first trunk show in our hometown, New Canaan, CT, at Benefit Cosmetics on Thursday, May 6th from 10am - 6pm. A portion of the proceeds from the trunk show were to support local NPO, Waveny Care Center.

We set up shop at a table (with a fabulous hot pink table cloth!) in the front of the store and styled a beach-themed display in the window, which was a big hit with passersby!

The faux-coral was actually purchased some time ago at one of my favorite New Canaan stores across the street from Benefit called Pimlico, which carries super chic home goods. I always make it a point to stop by when I'm in New Canaan. Click here to visit the Pimlico website.

The fun continued at 6pm as good friends and New Canaanites, Kristin Seelert and Kate Baliotti, hosted a private cocktail party for friends and board members of the Waveny Care Network. Kristin and Kate were the consummate hosts and Benefit was the perfect location to display our baubles - I only wish this makeup mecca had been in town when I was growing up!

We had a great time at the trunk show and we can't wait to schedule another one in our old stomping grounds!

On le Calendar this week

Greetings from NYC!

Just wanted to say a quick hello and to let you know that if you've noticed a little "radio silence" emanating from the good ole blog lately, do not fear...

...we've been burning the midnight oil in preparation for some great events in May, starting tonight!

Tonight CP (my sister, Carrie) and I are looking forward to attending what I'm sure will be a fantastic networking event for peeps in the fashion/media industries at Herman Miller Showroom co-hosted by Jessica Cohen of Luprocks.com (follow her on Twitter @LupRockStar too!)

On Wednesday we're heading out to Connecticut to prepare for our Thursday, May 6th trunk show & cocktail party extravaganza at Benefit Cosmetics in New Canaan. We're donating a portion of the proceeds from the trunk show to the Waveny Care Network, also in New Canaan. Check out our ad (below) that ran in the New Canaan Advertiser this week and click here to read more about the trunk show!

We'll make sure to post pictures from both events as soon as we're back from CT and settled in.

Have a great week!

Weekend Whirlwind

Why is it that weekends always seem to slip by so quickly? After spending most of your Friday (admittedly) daydreaming about the promise of a relaxing weekend spent reading, meeting up with friends, playing sports or {insert your favorite weekend ritual here} before you know it's 9pm on Sunday night and you're giving yourself a pep talk in preparation for the upcoming week! Ugh!

During the spring and summer months, a couple of my favorite weekend rituals include spending entire days reading books and magazines at the beach and playing softball in Central Park with a great group of ladies and gents - some of whom I have been friends with since high school! This past weekend I was able to do both of these activities and though the respite between busy work weeks felt way too short, it was definitely well spent!

Though I wasn't able to take any pictures during softball (sports can really get in the way of one's photographic pursuits...) I was able to snap a few photos of my day at the beach. Greenwich Point (also know as Tods Point) in Greenwich, CT is my "go to" local beach. It's only an hour away from the city and even closer to my childhood home, and in my humble opinion, it's just as beautiful as any of the Hamptons beaches.

Stone walls make this feel very New England-y, no?

A private home & beach just a short distance from Tods Point. During the summer months, the owner sets up a Volleyball net!

Sea grasses and a lighthouse in the distance

I hope you all have a wonderful week (and an even better weekend!)
